its always exciting to introduce new names to the spring theory roster and pedro vian, its latest addition, makes no exception to the rule. its also the 10th release on spring theory, so more reasons to rejoice! the barcelona-based producer came to (my) attention with his releases dancing hindus and titled beautiful things you left us for memories on his own label modern obscure music. this ep picks up some of the themes from those records and further explores of his style of elegiac synth lines and primitive drum machines. the sound of dancing alone with your eyes closed, late at night. haunting house for the heartbroken.

a chance encounter at university during the acid house summer of 88 and subsequent bonding over baby fords oochy koochy established a life-long friendship between leicester lads, jimi ocallaghan and al green. inspired by the sounds of detroit, early ny house like murk and masters at work and the emerging uk sounds of lfo, orbital and aphex twin, the pair began djing and making music as the wild geese. their first ep, the wild geese ep, was released in 1994 on their own giddy goose recordings imprint. the guys pressed 500 copies and, with jimis connections made interning with pete tongs ffrr, sold copies direct to london shops. the record sported packaging designed to look like an american 12 and an accompanying press release attributed the ep to a fictitious dj duo hailing from wisconsin. rave reviews followed and a distribution deal was struck with vital uk, who produced and sold another 500 copies worldwide. another ep followed a year later. sadly, plans for a third ep on the label never materialized, but the pair remain close to this day. 24 years later we are honored to reintroduce this genre-defying, uniquely forward-thinking ep to todays dance floors.

here we are for the 4th round of apparel wax and a crazy one indeed for all the lovers of the vinyl masked man, a release that expresses 4 different nuances of house. few words are needed to describe the debut of the vinyl with a1 track which is a rarely powerful combination of 2.0 dance music and 80s vibes, a proper slap in the face to kick it off! our unknown dj then shifts to a more sensual mode with a2, where funky guitar shades and smooth chords blended with the vocals that drag us on a more intimate level of listening to keep on traveling on a lower tone. b side starts with a track guided by weaving jazzy rhythmics dialoguing hectically with samba and some jungle environmental recordings, creating a super personal interpretation of brazilian jazzy house, while to end up the 4th trip on wax planet, b2 blesses us with some more classic vibes with a sharp strings melody and a rich bassline guided silently by a rhodes piano and some pungent and melancholic female vocals, to end it up in style.

generation next returns with his 6th solo ep on the 7 days entertainment label titled phoenix. the ep opens with the song sundance kid, a tune that carries a high-spirited synth and bass throughout mixed in with a simple kick drum, high hat and snare combo. next up on side a is roseland, a cool, smooth house track from gn. a funky baseline accompanied with a warm piano, some complimentary synth and a clean rhythmic drum kit pattern. on the flip side, the first track is jungle 10.10.15. the recording used at the opening is from a voicemail received on the date 10/10/15. this track is pure memorization. the voice of a woman over a frantic high hat pattern and knocking kick drums. the last song of this 4 song ep is gold scorpion. a simple dance tune with high- energy percussion, piano, and kick drum. this dance floor mover will definitely be a favorite.

framework recordings is back with a very special, limited run vinyl ep that features five fantastic artists in oliv, ohana, blurred, fred and ground16, and deep house doesnt come much finer. first up is the low key oliv, part of the heady party collective bedford crew. his submarine cruise is an effortlessly atmospheric dub house track. sandy shakers, balmy pads and an astral lead synth line all ooze underground class. ohana is another emerging producer with an already well formed sound. his gorgeous lune is another prime bit of deep house with analogue kicks and hits, subtle vocal samples and cavernous pads that melt into the horizon.
blurred are a young italian pair from labels like lapsus, safe music and hotfingers and keep up the cultured dub house vibe with more deeply enveloping grooves and dusty hits. the chords here are smeared in the background and sure to find favour with the more intimate dance floors out there. then its to impressive new swiss artist fred for mw. its deep and house-y again, but this time it drives forward on huge kicks, with acid lines and icy hi hats bringing the energy while yawning synths soften the edges. closing out a tasteful package are swiss pair ground16 with 3rd street. cosmic in nature and with wide open pads, this house groove is another analogue beauty with warmth, smart vocal snippets and dreamscape pads. these are timeless deep house cuts that are deceptively simple and superbly executed.
